Homemade Easy Hummus Recipe

Hummus is a pureed garbanzo bean (chickpea) dip originated in the Middle East. With its mild and subtle taste and creamy texture, hummus is by large a crowd-pleaser, served along with pita bread or pita chips and an assortment of fresh vegetables. The tahini, or sesame seed paste, for this recipe can be found at gourmet shops and many grocery stores.

Ingredients

  • 1. 2 cups cooked garbanzo beans (chickpeas), drained
  • 2. 1/3 cup Tahini
  • 3. 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 4. 1 tsp Fresh Parsley, minced
  • 5. 2 cloves Garlic, halved
  • 6. 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 7. 1 pinch Paprika
  • 8. Salt to taste

Instructions

Add the garbanzo beans, tahini, lemon juice, salt and garlic to a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. Transfer the contents to a serving bowl.

Drizzle olive oil over the hummus. Garnish with paprika and parsley.

Notes

1) If you do not want to cook the garbanzo beans, you may use canned ones as well.
