    Ingredients

    • 1 large red onion
    • ½ cup all-purpose flour (maida)
    • 2 tablespoons corn flour
    • ½ teaspoon mixed dried herbs
    • ½ teaspoon chili flakes
    • ½ teaspoon salt
    • ½ cup water (adjust as needed for batter consistency)
    • 1 cup crushed corn flakes (or panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch)
    • Oil for deep frying

    Instructions

    1

Slice the onion into thick rings and gently separate them.

    2

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, corn flour, mixed herbs, chili flakes, and salt.

    3

Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, whisking until the batter is smooth and lump-free.

    4

Dip each onion ring into the batter, making sure it’s evenly coated.

    5

Roll the battered ring in the crushed corn flakes to cover completely.

    6

For an ultra-crispy result, dip the coated ring back into the batter and then again in corn flakes for a second coating.

    7

Heat oil over medium heat and fry the rings in small batches until golden brown and crispy.

    8

Drain on paper towels and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

    Notes

    Tips:
For best results, choose large red onions—they’re juicier and more flavorful., Double-coating with both batter and crumbs gives the best crunch and ensures none of the onion is exposed during frying., Don’t overcrowd the frying pan; fry in small batches for even cooking and crispiness., Medium heat is key—too hot and the rings will brown too fast, too low and they may become greasy.
